    Grands Appartements

The Grands Appartements at Versailles are among the palace's most popular attractions. Each "apartment" is actually a suite of rooms decorated by its residents, various persons of standing during the palace's heyday, and each is named after the allegorical mural on its ceiling, such as the Mercury Salon, painted by Francois Lemoine.
